Ableton Live (8) fx midi playable uh..thing.
« on: September 30, 2009, 08:54:42 AM »
well. i thought id drop by and let you know about a little template thing im working on that i will post (+instrucitons and whatnots) on my live blog when its done.

inspired somewhat from the (!) setup aswell as the Native Instruments "the finger" setup.
what it is is basicly a bunch of audio tracks grouped up that you can play via gate mode midi toggles.
so its basicly the same as the finger only that you separate send channels for each effect and ofcourse you can ahve as many effects and effectracks as your cpu can handle. i choose to keep it native because its a: portable, b: more stable and c: less cpu intense. infact the template as is right now peaks at about 30%ish cpu with some 3-4 effects active at the same time.

heres 2 little videos of it:
here you can see the insides of it and a stupid live test performance (and aweful at that hah):

heres another video with some revised effects aswell as collapsed groups and setup more like a "real" live performance template, ie having several tracks etc (except that i majorly screw up a couple of times, but what the hell, and ofcourse excuse the poor audio quality):

and yeah, the template isnt done yet and i have a couple of other ideas for it, but if you want it at its current state its located here:

the livepack has a track with empty clips that has a quick setup instruction, i will probably make a pdf tutorial about it when its done. todolist includes looper tracks, beatjuggling stuffs and whatelse have you, but sofar its very playable and very easy to control + easy on your cpu. fun fun! :D

if you modify it into something better, please let me know as im always trying to improve my toys.

Oh man, i'm gonna have some fun with this!

Thanks for sharing your work :) Pretty impressive that you (by the sounds of it(no pun intended)) made a software variant of NI's new hardware in Ableton.
