DIY Controller with Musical Notes
« on: July 07, 2010, 11:26:53 PM »
Greetings,

I'm new to the DIY controller, but I would like to make something similar to a keyboard midi controller but with buttons instead (possibly arcade style buttons). Essentially it would just be a large grid (at least 12x12 ideally, but using repeated notes and only spanning 5 octaves) to which I can assign note values and use in Reason/Logic/Pro Tools. Would it be possible to use the Hale UMC32? Or the U-HID? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'd just wait for the monome 64 kit to go on sale again. Use Max/MSP to make it do what you want, or you might very well find an already-created plugin there.

BE WARNED...they suck when it comes to availability. Sign up for their email list and subscribe to the blog via RSS so you hear when shit goes on sale or when it's about to go on sale. They give you a date & time of when they'll be opening sales up. You have 45 minutes tops before they're all gone!
