Getting Started!
« on: March 12, 2009, 02:01:21 PM »
Hey all, this controllerism thing is really awesome I love the idea of being able to do live remixs, I Just don't know how/where to begin.

Here's what I have

Torq + Connectiv
Ableton live 7, Sonar 8 Producer Edition
M-Audio Axiom 49 and Trigger Finger

Currently I'm going through the ableton tutorials so I can learn the functions of the program itself, but how do I implement the smart mixing with it?

I can only explain the simpler things so bear with me.  The beatlookuy stuff is all programmed in Reaktor so if you do not own Reaktor then you will not be able to use the beatlookup stuff.  If you do have Reaktor then you would essentially launch Ableton, (you could just load up Moldovers Practical Template which you can download from controllersim.com download section.  Once you open the Practical Template it will at least show you how this is setup.  Each track has a Reaktor ensemble attached to it.  You would essentially use yoru Axiom to send the correct midi note to trigger the effects in the Reaktor plugin.  As well you could map things like volume faders etc in Ableton using the same keyboard.

I just posted a lenghty post in the n00b post just today that explains how to get this to work.

Again, if you don't have Reaktor 5 or the $449 to buy it then all this is moot.  However, there was a post just the other day about duplicating Beatlookup without Reaktor.  You may need to go down that road if you don't have Reaktor.

Hmmm it says that some files are invalid or that my version of reaktor is too old.

EDIT: I got it working :D

Yeah I was going to say I think you need one of the latest versions of Reaktor or the plugins give some errors.  I think 5.12 of Reaktor is needed or 5.15 for Mac on Leopard.

glad you got it working.
