London controllerists
« on: May 28, 2008, 05:52:23 AM »
Hi all,

Glad to see the forum's back up. So thought I'd say hi from the UK.

Myself and a few other London based controllerists are working towards the launch of a controllerism focused night around September / October time. The plan is to complement the controllerism with other live performers - beatboxes, musicians, whatever... So any local performers, drop me a line.

I suppose I should introduce myself too, while I'm here. While I've been in bands, DJed, produced my own tracks and so on, my main focus these days is remixes (although I've been out of action for a little while). My interest in controllerism grew from looking into way to create remixes live. My main tools for this (not surprisingly) are Ableton Live and a Novation 25SL - plus a few custom VSTs.

Right, that's enough about me. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Cheers,

Robb

I'm a manchester based controllerist who works in a band setting, playing synths and loops while managing the bands effects and looping.  I'd like to see the date, I don't see a problem with us popping on down for the carnage.

Hope to see you there.

These folks are UK based and contacted me recently about starting an event along the lines of The Warper Party we do in NYC:  http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=110506813

Maybe you can all pool resources and put together something rad.

Best,

Thanks for the reply. Jez CMP is actually one of the other controllerists I mentioned (and the driving force behind what we're doing). So resources already pooled. ;)

Will post back when we have more news. Any other local performers, get in touch...

Cheers,

Robb

How are things coming together with the London party?  I'm planning to play in Paris and Luxembourg in October.  I would love to be visiting Europe on a regular basis :-)

Hi Matt,

Yes, things are coming together well. Jez and I were trying to finalise venues and dates only yesterday.

We're planning on having an "alpha version" on October, and a "beta version" in November - followed by a full launch next January. We should be deciding on the venue for the "alpha version" early next week, and that will influence dates, but at the moment it looks it'll be Friday 17 October.

Can't believe you're coming all the way to Europe and not stopping off at the UK! When exactly are you playing?

Cheers,

Robb

Hey Robb,

I am based in the south west, but often come up to London for nights out. Keep me posted about your gig(s), I would love to come down and meet some like minded mashers!  ;D

It's been a long time since the last post here...
Any news about the UK scene?

Anyone is looking for collaboration in London?
