please help
« on: February 04, 2010, 01:55:40 PM »
hi guys.....i am from the middle east and controllerism is ultra rare here....i think i must be the only one in the whole country to do this.....and we dont have the controllers available here....so i am planning on ordering my gear...and i wana be dead sure about what i am ordering....i have eveything planned out...apc40 is definitely in my list.....but i wanted some more options regarding mixers....more controllers and soundcard......so here are my questions...

1)diff between audio interface and sound card???...if i have apc40....with the korg nano series....and a behringer bcf 2000.....what should be my soundcard or audio interface and how is it connected to each other keeping in mind latnency.....usb hub ...and this set up will need an audio 4 dj card or audio 8??or will it even need a external sound thingy??

2)i want to have an apc40 along with a set up that consist of keys...touch pad..with lots of faders and knobs..xy control...this is why i chose korg nano series and behringer bcf.....but im still looking for an option which allows me to have a controller which can perform like all the 3 nano's+ the bcf but in one body.....somethin like the remote sl...again....i want to perform lots of live..... so transport controls are the next question....

3)if i have the above mentioned setup....do i need a mixer......and are there good mixers with midi compatibility and audio interface builtin....the prices for the controllers should be like the items i have already mentioned....a litlle bit more is okay with me...but not very high priced...

4) and apart from all of this.if i am successfull in conecting this up....where do i connect my monitors??

if anyone can give me suggestion then it will be really kind of you....the style of music i do is a big mash up of many electronic genres...and i dont use any dj software like traktor...i use ableton which allows me to mix with my tunes plus play comercially famous songs too..so theres no vinyl or cds involved....i hope somebody replies to this as i dont know anybody here in my country who has an idea of what im talking about...thanx...

Hello.

1 - Audio interface is external device and you use it with your laptop, soundcard is internal and you use it with your desktop. You need audio interface if you want to play live, you connect all your devices via USB or midi - if you will have good interface there will be almost no latency.
2 - Your choice.
3 - If you have audio interface you don't need a mixer.
4 - To the audio interface outputs

All the best!
